Woodstock’s VE Day 80th Celebration Success!

The Oxfordshire market town of Woodstock welcomed hundreds of visitors at the weekend, celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. The event was also attended by Councillors, including 12th Duke of Marlborough, James Spencer-Churchill.

Live 1940s music, vintage military vehicles, and living history displays created a real buzz in the historical town in West Oxfordshire, honouring the end of World War II in Europe.

Nickie Rogan, Chair of Wake up to Woodstock, the member association that supports local businesses and promotes visitors to the town said: “We’re so pleased with how the afternoon went, with people of all generations coming together to mark, and to celebrate this important time in history.”

Woodstock’s independent shops, galleries, pubs, cafés, and museums welcomed customers for what was a truly memorable afternoon and evening.

As well as Wake Up to Woodstock, the celebration was supported by Woodstock Town Council, Blenheim Palace and Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum.
